Cookie policy
Epoka uses no tracking cookies. The two cookies that exist serve only to make the site work, and carry nothing about you.
Why we don't ask for consent
Cookie consent is required for tracking or marketing cookies. Epoka has none: visit measurement is cookie-free, there is no ad network, and there are no third-party scripts.
A site using only functional cookies is not required to ask. Showing a consent dialog for something that consent is not needed for only cheapens consent itself.
Cookies in use
Only the following may be stored in your browser:
- epoka_locale — your language preference. Written on your first visit by reading your browser language, and again whenever you change the language by hand. Kept for one year. Its entire content is a language code (tr, en, or es); it carries nothing about who you are.
- epoka_admin — only when signing in to the admin panel. It never exists for readers.
Local storage that isn't a cookie
Some preferences live in your browser's own storage rather than a cookie. The first three are never sent to the server; they do not leave your device:
- The list of stories you've read — used to mark them in the list
- Your preference to hide read stories
- Your light/dark theme preference
The tab session identifier
There is one exception, and it should be said plainly: the tab session identifier IS sent to the server. It travels with the measurement request when you open a page and when you leave; there is no other way to match how long you stayed to that particular visit.
Its raw form is not stored: it is mixed with the daily salt and turned into a one-way digest, exactly like the visitor identifier. The identifier itself is randomly generated and erased when you close the tab — your next visit arrives as a different one.
How to clear them
Clearing site data in your browser settings removes all of it. The site keeps working afterwards; only your preferences reset.
