Why we don't ask for consent

Cookie consent is required for tracking or marketing cookies. Epoka has none: visit measurement is cookie-free, there is no ad network, and there are no third-party scripts.

A site using only functional cookies is not required to ask. Showing a consent dialog for something that consent is not needed for only cheapens consent itself.

Cookies in use

Only the following may be stored in your browser:

• epoka_locale — your language preference. Written on your first visit by reading your browser language, and again whenever you change the language by hand. Kept for one year. Its entire content is a language code (tr, en, or es); it carries nothing about who you are.
• epoka_admin — only when signing in to the admin panel. It never exists for readers.

Local storage that isn't a cookie

Some preferences live in your browser's own storage rather than a cookie:

Your theme preference and your hide-read preference never leave your device. The list of articles you have read is sent to the server when you open the "Reads" page — there is no other way to show you those headlines. The list that is sent is never stored and never linked to an identity; it is used for that one request and discarded.

The tab session identifier

There is one exception, and it should be said plainly: the tab session identifier IS sent to the server. It travels with the measurement request when you open a page and when you leave; there is no other way to match how long you stayed to that particular visit.

Its raw form is not stored: it is mixed with the daily salt and turned into a one-way digest, exactly like the visitor identifier. The identifier itself is randomly generated and erased when you close the tab — your next visit arrives as a different one.

How to clear them

Clearing site data in your browser settings removes all of it. The site keeps working afterwards; only your preferences reset.
